Types of Gifts
Annual Fund
Gifts to the annual fund provide vital operating support through gifts at every level.
Facility Gifts
Facility gifts provide funds for renovating or building new buildings on UT's campuses.
Endowed Gifts
Endowed gifts enable donors to create permanent funds for specific purposes. Funds will be invested and managed by the University of Tennessee to provide a steady and reliable income stream in perpetuity. Endowments may be named to honor the donor or another appropriate individual. Options for designating endowed gifts include:
- Scholarships / Fellowships
An endowed scholarship for an undergraduate student, or a fellowship for a graduate student, can be established beginning with a gift of at least $25,000. Scholarships and fellowships are awarded based on one or more of the following criteria: merit, need, area of residence, and/or field of study. - Professorships
With an investment of $500,000 or more, a donor can choose to permanently fund a faculty position in a college or chosen field. The creation of endowed professorships can be particularly helpful in securing and retaining high-quality faculty at the university. - Chair
With a gift of $2 million or more, donors may opt to establish a chair in a college or field of interest. Endowed chairs provide our top faculty with needed resources for continuing their research and teaching at the highest levels, and also provide the university with a much-needed recruiting tool to attract senior scholars and teachers. - Program Endowments
With an investment of $25,000 or more, donors may establish a program endowment. Such endowments are used to support teaching, research, and programs in one of UT's colleges, departments, or centers.
