When the University of Tennessee Development Council was created over fifty years ago, private fund raising by public higher education institutions was rare. The challenge was to help alumni and friends of the university understand that with their gifts—and only with their gifts—could UT reach the next level of excellence. Today Development Council members continue to support the university through their own generous gifts, by encouraging other individuals and organizations to invest in the university, and by providing the volunteer leadership to advance the university’s ambitious goals. Council members are distinguished business, civic, and professional leaders—both alumni and friends of the university—from throughout Tennessee and the nation.

The university is grateful to the members of the Development Council for their leadership and interest in recognizing all alumni and friends’ contributions to the University of Tennessee.
